the cost of a loaf of bread
This article from The Guardian [1] got me thinking about how the industrialization of baking & the modern market system effectively ended the tradition of bread riots -- which were a common thing through the early modern era.
If we didn't have comparatively cheap mass-produced loaves, would the price of good bread come down? And would people riot if it didn't?
